Flying monkeys and enablers can be just as bad as the narcissist.

Flying Monkeys and Enablers: Just as Harmful as the Narcissist

Flying monkeys and enablers play a significant role in a narcissist's web of manipulation. While the narcissist is the mastermind, these individuals act as their extensions, carrying out their bidding and amplifying the harm inflicted on the target. Often, flying monkeys are friends, family members, or acquaintances who have been manipulated into supporting the narcissist's narrative, whether knowingly or unknowingly.

These individuals are dangerous because they give the narcissist credibility, validate their lies, and help execute their smear campaigns. By spreading gossip, gaslighting the victim, or even pressuring the target to "make peace" with the narcissist, flying monkeys contribute to the emotional and psychological harm inflicted. Their actions can leave the victim feeling isolated, doubting their own experiences, and questioning their support system.

Enablers, on the other hand, may not actively participate but passively support the narcissist by ignoring their toxic behavior or making excuses for it. This lack of accountability allows the narcissist to continue their abuse unchecked.

Understanding the role of flying monkeys and enablers is crucial for anyone recovering from narcissistic abuse.

Recognising their impact can help victims set boundaries, seek support, and protect their mental well-being. Both the narcissist and their enablers must be held accountable to break the cycle of abuse.
