Narcissists will tell the story with you as the bad person so they don't have to face the consequences of what they did to you.

It's a painful truth-some people will twist the narrative and paint you as the bad person. Not because you did anything wrong, but because they can't face the consequences of their own actions.

Instead of owning up to the harm they caused, they rewrite the story to protect their image and avoid accountability.

This tactic is common in emotionally abusive relationships, especially with narcissistic individuals. By casting themselves as the victim, they gain sympathy while isolating you. It's a clever form of manipulation that leaves you doubting your own experiences and defending yourself against false accusations.

If this has happened to you, remember: the version of the story others hear doesn't define your truth. You don't need to prove your side to everyone. Those who genuinely know you will see through the lies in time.

Focus on healing rather than chasing validation.

When someone needs to paint you as the villain to justify their behaviour, it says more about them than it does about you. Stay grounded in your truth, and trust that you don't need to carry the blame for someone else's actions.
